Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field mandatory; Master’s in Taxation desirable

We are looking for an Office Administrator to join our small accounting firm at L. Lopez, CPA & Associates Inc., where you’ll play a crucial role in our accounting practice. Duties include performing clerical tasks, managing reception duties, and overseeing tax return processing and deadline management.

Responsibilities

  • Friendly and helpful attitude in greeting clients and handling phone inquiries
  • Strong organizational skills required for performing clerical and administrative tasks within our office. This role involves assisting the business owner and staff members with various administrative projects
  • Perform general administrative duties including filing, data entry, and managing paper or electronic mail
  • Manage calendars and schedule appointments as needed
  • Order and maintain office supplies to ensure smooth operations

Seasonal Senior Tax Preparer/Reviewer

As a Seasonal Senior Tax Preparer/Reviewer, you will be expected to work approximately 40 hours per week during the tax season, focusing on managing and reviewing complex tax returns for a variety of clients.

Job Description

  • Preparing and reviewing Individual and Business entity returns
  • Ensures completeness and accuracy of tax returns by referring to prior year tax documents.
  • Includes making any tax adjustment and / or closing entries in bookkeeping software
  • Client Communication to obtain additional information on taxable income and deductible expenses and allowances / follow up questions
  • Use all appropriate adjustments, deductions, and credits to keep clients’ taxes to a minimum.
  • Follows all federal, state and local tax laws and perform research when necessary.
  • Assist with extensions and calculating extension payments
  • Prepare loan amortization schedules
  • Review financial records such as income statements and documentation of expenditures to determine forms needed to prepare tax returns.
  • Complete weekly check-ins with team leads

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience preparing and reviewing tax returns; must include specific experience with all types of individual, partnership, and corporate tax returns
  • Ability to multitask and complete projects ahead of deadlines
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Self-starter who is dedicated to following through on multiple projects and responsibilities
  • Tech savvy: should be familiar with navigating numerous cloud-based software programs (e.g. Lacerte, TaxDome, Adobe, Microsoft 365, QuickBooks Online.
  • Bookkeeping & QuickBooks experience is a plus
  • A valid CPA or EA license is beneficial but not required

Responsibilities

  • Work directly with the tax team to prepare and review individual, corporate and partnership tax returns
  • Collect necessary information and prepare work papers to firm’s’ standards
  • Prepare financial statements in QuickBooks and adjust journal entries as needed to support the tax returns
  • Work with clients on tax projections, tax notice resolution and client communication

  • Contract Duration: January 15th – April 30th (tax season)
  • Experience Required: Minimum of 5+ years of tax preparation experience in a public or private accounting firm.

  • Pay Rate: $40-$60 per hour, depending on experience
